While I usually love Stacey Alabaster's books, this storyline wasn't my favorite. Add into the mix an insubordinate, rude, and very unlikable employee, Simona and you lost me. I actually liked Chloe from book six, even though she turned out to be kinda awful. Simona doesn't seem to remember that Rachael rescued her from unemployment. Rant over. I love Pippa and usually love Rachael, but I don't know why she seemed so different in this book. Well, I'm on to number eight, hoping that Rachael gets her groove back.Product details

Catering and Kidnapping A Bakery Detectives Cozy Mystery eBook Stacey Alabaster Reviews
Rachael & Pippa never claimed to be able to solve kidnapping cases. To date they've just managed to figure out some murders. But then they get involved and their puzzle solving instincts lead them on. An interesting twisty cozy.
I really enjoyed this and immediately recognized the two main characters. Pippa's pregnancy brings a new dimension and ensures we'll be seeing more of her. The author does a great job of leading us to suspect one person, only to be drawn later in another direction. Exciting read with lots of twists and turns.
This is a great, quick read for anyone who is a Cozy Mystery Fan. Loved the characters, plot, storyline, etc. This author is a great storyteller and all of her books are wonderful. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series!
I read Stacey's book in one fast session. I was so glad to see that Rachel had branched out into kid's parties and solving a kidnapping (not from the party) to keep the bakery afloat. I had feared the town was running out of citizens. I wanted to see more of the detective, but Rachel was busy coping with Pippa's advancing pregnancy and Simone. I enjoyed this one, and I am looking forward to Halloween Sceams.
This is a fairly interesting story. There were fewer grammatical and spelling errors than in most of these "cozy mysteries" (whatever that means). No bad language, which is good. However, the whole plot was convoluted and unbelievable. The motive, when finally revealed, was too flimsy to be believable. No one would concoct such crimes for such a reason!
I have enjoyed watching the friendship between Rachael and Pippa grow into quite a team of mystery solvers. This time it was not your typical murder or finding a dead body in their midst, but a kidnapping of a man's daughter whose wife's murder the team had solved previously. Pippa is definitely growing up and Rachael is improving her solving skills with the assistance of Jackson.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series to be released.
Well written story with a major twist ! This is a wonderful series and just keeps getting better. Rachel and Pippa are a great team and everyone needs a friendship like they have. Can't wait for the next book. Definitely did not see the end coming!! It was hard to put down
